Coming Out of a Slide

While you're driving on an icy road, there is a possibility that you will start sliding. If you begin to slide in your vehicle, don't panic. You should also avoid slamming on the brakes as this can cause you to lose control of your car. Gently pump your brakes until you gain traction on the roadway.

As you're sliding, you want to turn the steering wheel in the same direction that the car is going. The car will likely turn in the opposite direction, but as long as you maintain control of the steering wheel, then you should be able to stay on the road.

When you enter the slide while driving], your first instinct might be to oversteer. This will usually result in your car spinning around and you possibly losing control. As you're pumping the brakes and turning in the direction of the slide, your car should begin to slow down. You can take your car to Mathews Acura once you're driving again to see if there is any damage to the tires or other parts of your car.
