How Does a LATCH Evaluation Work?

Here at Mathews Acura, we want you to be well-informed about the ease of installing a child safety seat when you are choosing your next vehicle. Today, we're talking about the IIHS LATCH system evaluations.

LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) evaluations inspect the child seat attachment hardware within a vehicle and how well it performs in a crash test. Even though a car seat can be properly installed with regular seat belts, the LATCH system makes correct installation easier. Furthermore, tether anchors are necessary for a forward-facing seat with or without lower anchors or regular seat belts. The top tether keeps the child from pitching forward in a collision.

The LATCH rating program was established in 2015 to make sure that manufacturers designed LATCH hardware which meets the requirements for easy use. Come see us here at Mathews Acura to find your next vehicle today!
